When this is the wrong fix

Method

How it's done.

New SDR-35 PVC is laid in the bedding, haunched with stone up to the pipe spring line, and backfilled in lifts with compaction testing where the trench crosses a driveway, sidewalk, or the municipal right-of-way. Where an open trench isn't practical — a mature tree canopy, a finished driveway that can't be cut, or a very deep or long run — trenchless pipe bursting is used instead, pulling a new HDPE or PVC pipe through the old alignment while fracturing the old pipe outward.
